“After all,” Anne had said to Marilla once, “I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.”

― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea

On a sunny Southern California day I walked put to a house that radiated with laughter and adventure. From the backyard I could hear pirates and circus performers. Upon entering, the house was empty except for a precious sleeping babe and his parents. Life was happening in the dirt and trees, the imaginary forts and sail ships. Adventure was being lived fully all around the sleeping Ezra and I couldn’t help but smile at all the stories to come.

This tiny, handsome boy is the youngest of 6 kiddos, all of who have the blessed privilege of being raised by parents who cherish childhood and encourage exploration. Documenting a morning in their life saw climbing trees and petting bunnies, nerf wars and doll dress-up. Yet, like an invisible force, each sibling was drawn to their new baby brother. He was clearly the center of the home and each member of the family revolved around him.

Alaina, whenever I spend time with your family I am drawn to the beauty of family. You are clearly in love with your role of mama and your children adore you. I am blessed to know you and document your life. I cannot wait to see your family grow up and make their impact on the world. I know it will be a beautiful one.
